SolFed Kids Farm School

Farm School is a weekly summer program where children spend the day immersed in nature, learning through hands-on experiences rooted in farm life, creativity, and ecological connection. Sessions meet on Tuesdays from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM at our small, off-grid teaching farm just outside Kalamazoo.

Each week, children have the opportunity to tend their own gardens, forage wild plants, care for goats and chickens, and explore the forest through play and guided activities. They build with natural materials, create art using elements from the land, and learn practical skills like fire-making, soil care, and even simple ways to grow and sell what they produce.

At its heart, Farm School nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a respectful relationship with the natural world. The program invites kids to slow down, work with their hands, and connect deeply to the rhythms of the land and the joy of learning something real.
